Armida Rose Realty aims to develop projects that are innovative and deliver economic benefits to the community. Of special interest to ARR is the adaptive reuse process, which takes existing structures that have outlived their original purpose and modernizes them while preserving their historic features. Typically, when older buildings have outlived their purpose, they’re demolished to make way for new buildings. Today, however, a number of these buildings are preserved due to their superior craftsmanship and the quality of the materials that were integrated into their construction. Many of these types of buildings are, after all, still standing after two centuries. With the adaptive-reuse process, these buildings can not only be preserved, but also renovated to accommodate modern day needs. This process recognizes the value of an older form of construction and development while at the same time is able to fulfill certain client needs.
ARR recently completed Excelsior Place, an upscale luxury apartment complex located at Kings Road in Schenectady. This century-old former schoolhouse was later developed into a community center and office space during the 20th century before being abandoned. Using the adaptive reuse process, we have converted this elegant brick building into 18 modern residential apartment homes, which will make it one the few residential projects of its kind in the City of Schenectady. Excelsior Place provides tenants a style of living that is upscale, unique and convenient.
This is one example of a project that ARR Brokerage is dedicated to developing in different communities: residences that merge the old with the new, and that blend the spirit of the past with the conveniences of today. It also shows the importance we give to spotting trends in the real estate industry so that we can position ourselves to best serve the marketplace.
